Comments: First and foremost, Thanks to ALL , for your service. I was a good friend of Donnie Joule. I was not in Viet Nam as I was a sole surviving son , but Donnie and I talked a lot about his service with you all and his love for you all. As he was so proud of all of you and I was his friend, he gave me one of the squadron coins he gave to all of you and I will cherish it for ever and honor it as you all likely do. Sincerely , Mike Fifer

Comments: I was drafted in June 1970. Took Basic training at Ft Campbell, Advanced training at Ft Polk. Assigned to 3/5 Troop C 3rd Platoon in Nov 1970 until late October 1971.
Comments: I was with D Troop in 69 to 70. Call sign Longknife 27. Unfortunately separated from you down in the Delta, would have enjoyed supporting the rest of the squadron.

Comments: I have always been a proud American. I took the draft tour and rode proudly with C trp 3rd/5th Cav in 67-68. Today I am ashamed, not of my Country, but for my Country. This is not the United States I know. GOD BLESS US. Tom Wolske.

Comments: I was with A Troop, 2nd Platoon, from 8 Feb 1970 - late June 1970. My PMOS WAS 11E, but was assigned as an M-60 gunner on the 21 track, under an 11D slot. Buck Sgt Green was my track commander. We saw combat up around the, "Rock Pile", Khe Sahn," unofficially in Cambodia" on a S&D mission, and other locations North and West of Dong Ha, which was where our base camp was. At the time, we were attached to the 1/5 Mech out of Quang Tri. Grew up in a hurry.
Comments: It is with great sadness that I'm reporting the loss of another brother..Ruben M. Alvarez formerly of the Aero-Rifle Platoon and Longknife Door gunner passed away November 29,2020. Ruben was from Lubbock, Texas. Ruben answered the call from his Country and served proudly as a member of D Troop 1967-68

Comments: Merry Christmas to all my fellow Black Knights, and to your families and loved ones.
By the way, the only "Woodstock" I saw in 1969 was the stock of my Army issued M-14 rifle at Ft. Campbell in basic training. 3/5 Cav troopers Tim Jones and medic Ron Rebouchet hung that nickname on me in Nam. Walking around with the name Wood over my pocket inspired that handle. Coulda' been a worse nickname. I've surely been called worse.
I am saddened to hear that so many of our brothers in arms have recently moved on to Fiddlers Green. Rest in peace brothers, and save me a spot under a shade tree.
Did y'all see Santa fly over last night with a D Troop escort? Times are so hard even Santa needs the * * * Cavalry to guard his stuff. Yipie I oh, yipie I ay, Ghost Riders in the sky...
