Comments: For those of us who were at Wunder Beach did you ever wonder where the name came from. Here is a post from a vet who was co of an engineer unit who says it was just a beach head and the troops called it Sunder's Wunders. It then became Wunder beach. He says:
The Military Assistance Command-Vietnam wanted to do something to counter the North Vietnamese offensive. They decided to move a large force up to the DMZ while the Marines were surrounded at Khe Sanh. Vlasics’ company was under the 159th Terminal Battalion, commanded by Lt. Col. Charles Sunder, which was called “Sunder’s Wunders.” “Out of my four platoons of BARCs, I took three platoons (12 boats) up there to set up a beach head right by the DMZ with the mission of resupplying two divisions that were going into this area to rescue the Marines, and supply two divisions and that was the 101st and the 1st Cav Division.

Comments: Greetings. If memory is correct I served with B troop on a infantry track for first 6 months then HHT 67-68. Originally entered as 11B but ended up 11E, don't remember details. Names are fuzzy but do remember Rusty Hammond, Eddie Robles and Meeks. Sorry to hear that Rusty has passed from a previous posting, he was a very funny guy and we listened music on his portable record player, mostly Doors, Beatles and psychedelic rock. Does anyone have contact information on Eddie Robles or Meeks, think his first name was James. I also wanted to post many photos from my time with 3/5 Cav, how does one do that? Also read on a previous post about Sgt. Thiele who was killed while on a convoy, think it was from a rpg or land mine, anyway I believe he is in one of my photos. I'm sure his family who like to see it. Mahalo.

Comments: Every Memorial day I think of the Four men that we lost on May 28,1970. 1st platoon C troop. I was wounded April 9, 1970 so I was in the hospital when this happened. Greg Scheeler was my tc and he was KIA that night. We were all so young. Such a terrible waste.
