Comments: I was in A troop Sept 68-Sept 69. Camp Evans, Wunder Beach, A Shau 937, Dong Ha, Quang Tri etc. Got into hand to hand w/an NVA officer on the Street w/o Joy. Kirk Rodgers was there and Bob Raczkowski. Great bunch of guys. I will always miss Lt Tom Emerson. He had my CAR 15 when he was killed. Ran into a 3/5 member in Richmond a couple of month ago. We didn't have a lot to say to each other but we felt a good vibe. All the very best... SGT Rodger Horsey 26 Tango
Comments: hello, I was member of A troop on the 40 track, between june 69 to june 1970. capt. Meigs was CO for most of my time. I think he retired a 3 star general. I like the guy. I sure woud like to remember more. I remember Randy Strickland. I also remember Larry Mosely. He was dusted off because of an rpg, He lost part of his hand. I feel pretty good about writing this. Its helping me remember more. I remember 26 accidently killing himself while cleaning his 45. I have some memories of hill 937. We escorted an artillery out fit there. I rember going to an area called the backyard. It seems like every time we went in there someone would hit a mine. One time the track in front of me hit a mine. It tipped the track on its side. No one was hurt bad though. Another time I remmember a driver losing his leg when the mine blew thru the floor. I hope to hear from others who were there about the same time.
Comments: I was a Huey pilot in D Trp. when the 3-5 was at Ft. Lewis, WA in the 1980's. We flew search and rescue missions around Mt. St. Helens after it blew in 1980.
Comments: John Larson, were you the chaplin who visited with me on the hospital ship Repose after i was wounded with the 3/5?It was the ambush that was fired on.
Comments: I was assigned to HHC and was squadron chaplain from June 1968 to June 1969. LTC Carpenter was our squadron commander when I returned stateside. At that time we were entering the Asha Valley. Sure would like to hear from some of you. It was a great year. Proud of all who served with us.
