Comments: Good evening, my fellow veterans. Tomorrow, May 25, 2018, is the 50th anniversary of my father (SSG John A. Thiele, Jr. or Bird Dog Six) being KIA in Quang Tri, Vietnam. I just wanted to reach out to all of you and let you know how much I appreciate your service to our Nation and defending our freedoms. There has not been a day gone by without thinking of my father. I have some great memories of him although not enough by any means. I hope this message finds all of you well and I pray that your lives have been filled with joy. Take care and God Bless all of you! Your friend, Chris.

Comments: I was a Medic in Troop A 1966 - 1967. I was in the Battle of Ap Bau Bang in March of 1967. I was drafted April 04.1966 in Hackensack and brought to Fort Dix. I then went to Fort Riley, Kansas. I came to Viet Nam by the USS Upture out of Oakland, California. We docked in Vung Tau Harbor for 3 days while the ship was unloaded. We had a pre-dawn landing and I was in one of the first LSUs. Our orders was hit the Beach and keep on running. I did so until I was stopped by an MP in full dress outfit. He stopped us and he ordered us to go back to the landing craft because the Band and The Photographers were not there. Anyone remember this?
