Haven't contacted the BlackKnights website or org. for years. But sitting here in a hotel in Hanoi was moved to do so. I have been back to Vietnam 6 times since 1967 to build schools. Wasn't sure why I came back the first time in 2001 with a brother-vet from the 25th Inf. When he died in 2005 from Agent Orange inflicted esophogeal cancer and asked me to return to our first school and leave some of his ashes so he could be with other brothers, I did. Now that I have a different memory of this place--A COUNTRY-A PEOPLE-NOT JUST A WAR I am a better person. Anyone wishing to discuss my experiences since returning please contact me.

I am interested in if anyone knew a Frank L. McChesney (probably Major) who served in Vietnam in 1965 (is my guess). He flew helicopters. I know that his call sign was Knight6. Dad passed away 10 years ago but he is with me daily. He was truly proud to be a black knight!

Robert Gentle,

We have been looking for you. We just found SSG (1SG Ret) Lyons last year. He is alive and living near Fort Riley KS. I saw him last year on the way to our 3/5 Cav reunion.

Joel Church talks about you every time we get together. I am glad we found you or that you found us.

Call me at 256-466-0238.

I was the platoon leader, 3rd platoon A Troop 3/5 cad 68/69.

We also have Cpt Meaders, 1SG Walker, Joel Church, Rob Klock, Doc Richard Oliver (who took Fitzgeralds place as 3rd platoon medic).

I just received a email from Franc Reed letting me know that Col. Mahler's (wife) Elle Mahler passed away a few months ago. When Col. Mahler was with the Cav he was the Squadron XO in 1968. As most of you know Col. Mahler wrote the book Ringed in Steel he was the Squadron XO in 67-68.

REST IN PEACE
