Comments: I came over from F Troop, 17th Cav (jeeps) in March of '67 and served in C Troop, 2nd platoon scouts until I rotated home in July '67. I have a DVD of my time in C Troop that contains the time a tank broke down and the retriever fixing it and 2 or 3 APC's providing cover over night. Also good footage of the Rome plows clearing the brush on both sides of a road. I'm looking for anyone who was in scouts during that timeframe. the following guys have a copy of the DVD: * * * Kaufman (company clerk), Gary Pounds, Jim Ferguson, and Dave Heinle.

Comments: Right on Ron I was there too Doc King attended to him he was on 22 track myself It happened right outside the Mia Loc SF compound. He also was with 2nd Plt in the Dong Ha Valley April 6th 1970 when we were hit hard by the NVA time was 0445 hr I just got on the 50 when 28 took a direct hit in the main gun and all hell broke loose. He didn't have to be in the field with us but he was. Great Co Commander
Comments: I was wounded very badly in 1969,I have delt with the VA,the 60,sand70,s was not to good but thelast few years they have done a very good job with the amount of Vets they are treating.
Comments: With the recent VA scandal rocking the nation, it has become clear that I have something to say. Eric Shinseki was my A troop commander in Nam. I was present when he stepped on a mine and watched as he was loaded onto a dustoff and waved goodbye to us. It was difficult to hold back my tears. Maybe it was because I was just a naïve, impressionable 20 years old, but I think not. I truly felt that Captain Shinseki loved us and watched over us while at the same time fulfilling our missions, some difficult and some mundane. The old saying "I would follow him into hell" if he gave the command was how I felt. He was a consummate leader. I was proud to serve under him. To those who say he does not care about veterans and that he was just a political wonk that didn't care about veterans welfare, I say "Nuts". I wish him the best in the future and hope that one day he will join us at a reunion.

Comments: Hello, I had the pleasure of meeting 4 members of the 3/5 cav this past weekend at a small reunion in Chapman ks. I must say what an honor it was. These gentlemen were truly the definition of what a soldier is. I work for the Dept of Veteran Affairs and this weekend gave me a greater appreciation for all Veterans. My family thanks them all for their service to our country. God Bless you all. I will never forget you, you all have a special place in my heart.
