Comments: I was in Btrp 3/5 . Feb. to Mar. 69. we hit a land mine and was medevac'd out with 3 others. the 2 mach. gunners and Tom Turner that had the M79 launcher. anybody remember that? It was my 6th day with the unit. Came back to the rear from the hospital. I think supply Sgt was Everson also from Conn.
Comments: Hello. Russ Knepp posted a message last year. I think I served with SGT. Knepp in 1971 at Quang Tri. If anyone can forward this message to SGT Knepp, I would be grateful.

Comments: It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of John Bakker. John has been battling cancer over the past several months; but finallylost the battle on Friday, April 15,2016. John was a true modern day cavalryman serving as the 3rd Platoon Sergeant from February of 1969 toJanuary of 1970 and that leadership and the respect that he garnered continued until his passing.John was a fighter and a very positive individual and never gave up on this his final battle. He will truly be missed; but never forgotten. A memorial service will be held in Temple, TX on May 7th followed by burial at the National Cemetery at Fort Hood on May 8th. John is survived by his wife Mary and condolences may be sent to her at 2309 South 51th Street, Temple, TX 76504. John's passing brings to the forefront just how fragile our time on earth is and underscores the importance of the timely completion of our squadron memorial and attending that troop reunion that you have long been putting off
