Comments: I was a medic assigned to the medic track. I do not remember many names, I do remember another medic named john blue and a medic named leslie bloom. Our mascot for our track was a dog named bandaid, one of the line troops had a dog named bozo. When I arrived in the field the unit was bivouacked in the jungle about 15 miles southwest of bearcat. About a week later we moved 100 miles north up highway 1 and set up camp a mile or so in the jungle, that night we got hit and as I was walking along the perimeter checking for casualties I found a track with no movement, it was dark and I stepped inside and started slipping on some liquid that was on the floor and saw what looked like a trooper resting against a wall and when I did not get an answer I went over to pull him out of the track I saw that most of his body had been blown away. the rest of the crew was also dead.
Comments: I was a crew chief/Gunner on the C&C Ship for D trp. 3/5, from July 68 - July 69 AT Bear cat then Dong Tam. I didn't crew the ship the entire time but flew over 275 combat missions. Anyone may contact me at 270-723-5184 or email me at donwoolett@gmail.com. My web page is HomeFirstUSA.com.
