This is in response to John Long. I was in B Troop, 3/5 from Oct 67 through Jul 68. But I spent time with a number of D Troopers. Your father-in-law David Dayson doesn't ring a bell. Maybe these names will refresh his memory though. I was friends with Dan Brophy and Jim Tasker (KIA Jun 68), Bruce Brogoitti and Don Hawkins (KIA Oct 68) and also Larry Fitzgerald, Doug Fife, Charlie Palacios. All were crew chiefs or door gunners, except for Tasker, who was a pilot. Other names I remember were ARPs Wayne Benes (medic), Ron Delp, and Mike Paonessa, all of whom I've visited on occasion at the Wall.

From: Hot Springs, AR
E-mail: rcastle995@aol.com I recently spoke with Jim Obrien by phone. Would like to hear from him again and establish email contact so I can send him some pictures. I am originally from Hot Springs, AR. But, now reside in Memphis, TN. I was in HHT, S-2 (HQ 22) from Jan 68 to Mar 70. I would welcome hearing from anyone from that time period who would like to share pictures or assist in remembering other folks from that time. Thanks.

Puttin my 2 cents worth in, today is flag day, mine flies year round at the house. Today I put up a new one and took the old one to work and flew it next to my desk. The crew I deal with looked at it and me , like a relic of a bygone era.I guess I must be gittin old. I was going to take my Cav. flag in and fly it also. Didn't do it because I wanted to see it when I drove back home. It was a good feeling driving past the house.Pride, remembering what I and so many went through. Now almost 50 years later, I see a new generation of people dealing with what so many of us went through and it bothers me. A friend of mine has a son 25 years old , did 3 tours in Irac. Only because he got pretty messed up in the looks department on the the first tour and felt he didn't have anything to offer anyone. He wanted to go back and got hurt again, went again. Now, at 25, retired by the service, he ponders what to do! He and his dad came by this past weekend to try and help "me" get my due. Can you possibly imagine how I want to let this youngster know that their are people out there that care. He won't listen, did you? If you get a chance, please try and let the younger ones know that they still have friends that remember. My Cav flag fies again tomorrow.
