Comments: I am looking forward to the 2011 re-union . I was in HHQ 3/5 cav. and 3/34 artillery. All in 1967. My job was Field Communications Repair. Hope to meet up with some of the old group. I also was on the cruise ship UPSHUR and what a trip that was , or not.
Comments: This mess. is to Dave Clark regarding an ambush coming out of fire base apple late Jan.68. I was in one late Jan. that happened in evening and the last one was a dayor two after the Tet started when we were reacting to an atack on an ARVN base camp up the road from apple. Thats when they hit Sgt. Williams tank w/rpg destroying it with two kia and one wounded Please feel free to contact me any time or any person who might have served with us during this time period by email or by phone 530-223-5852.
Comments: Dave, the first contact made outside FSB Apple was at 0545 Hrs. in Trang Bom. According to the radio journal, that was about 30 minutes after leaving FSB Apple. It didn't seem that long to me. Maj Mahler mentions it in his book, Ringed In Steel, on pg. 98. BTW, I highly recommend the book. Though Mahler says we left FSB at 0700, the radio journal says 0512 Hrs which about what I remember as it was not yet daylight.

Thanks to everyone at our reunion (2010 Elyria) for making my wife, Pat, and I into your family. I'm still recovering from seeing all of you and maybe a 'slight' hangover. I thank the Lord that my wife found your website and advised me to go to the reunion. We will be attending the next one in KY 2011.
I view our pics from Viet Nam with older eyes now but I can clearly see that each one of you are and will always remain the "true heroes" of that era.
Timmy, I promise I won't tell your wife about the time you.....ooops.
Thanks again for the memories brothers.
