OPERATION AKRON V - Black Knights

January 11-15 1968 –“OPERATION AKRON V” – Bien Hoa Province, III Corps -

The 1st Brigade, 9th Infantry Division with A Troop, 3rd /5th Cav conducted search and destroy missions, and reconnaissance in force operation into Base Area 303. The 274th VC Regt was the primary enemy unit engaged. They reported 8 U.S. KIAs and 84 wounded versus 39 enemy KIAs.

LTC Huge J. Bartley assumes command of 3/5 Cav and relieves LTC Howard J. Fuller, Jr.
