                                MEMORIAL COMMITTEE REPORT
                                          December 5, 2017

On behalf of the memorial committee, I would like to thank everyone for their generous support in making our memorial project the success that it has become. The completed project has exceeded all expectations; and if you haven’t seen it already, you owe it to yourself to make the effort to see it in person.
While we have been focused on construction, reunion, and rededication, there has been a lot going on at Patton’s Park under the leadership of Rick Young, Executive Director of the National Armor & Cavalry Heritage Foundation. We would like to think that our undertaking has spurred a lot of new activity. The 77th Armor has completed and dedicated their monument in June 2017. The 3rd Armored Division and the 14th Cavalry Regiment are expected to have their projects completed by October 2018. And finally, the 2nd Armored Division is in the formative stages of their planning efforts. Suffice it to say that Patton’s Park is beginning to make its presence visible to all.
As we look to the future, it is our desire to keep our memorial alive, so the memorial committee will be there to lead in that effort. We know that the memorial will require ongoing maintenance, repairs, and improvements. We also acknowledge that Patton’s Park is much more than the 3rd Squadron 5th Cavalry and we need to participate along with our neighbors in the support of the NACHF efforts.
Many of those who have yet to participate, have asked how they might contribute. In this regard, we have developed a new contribution form that will allow you to purchase a black granite paver, a mini paver, or simply donate to our memorial fund. Additionally, with the inevitable passing of our BIA and loved ones, we ask that you consider making a donation to the memorial fund in their memory.
Again, we thank you for your past contributions and encourage you to support our efforts going forward.

Richard J. Wandoff
Chairman, Memorial Committee
